The workbook is parsed locally in your browser. We check the factual structure first, then only the redacted findings are used to produce the prioritised summary.

The browser extracts diagnostic facts. The final wording request can include issue types, counts, sheet names and cell references, but not workbook cell values or formulas.

What gets checked

More than a list of Excel errors.

A workbook can contain no obvious error messages and still be fragile. The checker looks for the patterns that make spreadsheets unreliable, difficult to hand over and expensive to keep running manually.

01 / Reliability
ƒx

Formula failures.

Broken references, saved error results, inconsistent formulas, hard-coded exceptions and genuine external-workbook dependencies.

02 / Data quality

Messy data.

Duplicate records, blank fields, mixed data types, repeated headers and suspiciously inconsistent columns.

03 / Maintainability

Hidden complexity.

Very long formulas, volatile functions, hidden sheets, merged structures and workbook bloat that make changes risky.

04 / Workflow

Manual work.

Repeated sheet structures, stage tabs and copy-forward patterns that may be better handled by automation or lightweight software.

The useful bit

See what to fix first.
Then see why.

The report ranks what matters, explains the business risk, points to the evidence and separates genuine problems from things that are merely unusual.

Fix the revenue formula before cleaning anything else.

Most of the workbook is consistent. One calculation breaks the pattern used across the sales table, duplicate customer rows are affecting reporting, and three stage tabs suggest staff are manually moving the same records through the process.

When the spreadsheet is the process

Some spreadsheets should not stay spreadsheets.

If the report finds repeated copying, stage tabs, manual hand-offs or a workbook that several people depend on, ZappFlow can turn that process into a cleaner automated workflow or purpose-built internal tool.

Useful detail

A few things worth knowing.

The checker is deliberately conservative. It reports patterns it can evidence and avoids pretending it understands business rules that are not present in the workbook.

Does ZappFlow upload or store my spreadsheet?
The original workbook is parsed in your browser and is not uploaded to ZappFlow. For the final summary, the page sends a compact diagnostic evidence pack such as issue types, counts, sheet names and cell references. Workbook cell values and formulas are not included in that review request.
Can it tell whether every formula is mathematically correct?
No tool can infer every business rule from a workbook alone. This checker can find broken references, saved error values, formulas that break a surrounding pattern and other structural risks. It does not recalculate the workbook in your browser, so formula-result checks use the values saved in the file. It will not claim that a valid-looking formula is wrong just because it is unusual.
Does it change my file?
No. The checker is read-only. It analyses a copy of the workbook data in browser memory and does not write changes back into the source file.
Why might a spreadsheet need software instead?
Spreadsheets are excellent flexible tools. They become risky when they are also acting as a shared database, workflow system and source of truth with manual copying between stages. The checker flags patterns that are worth reviewing, not an automatic instruction to rebuild everything.
