What does the free Lighthouse audit test?

It uses Google PageSpeed Insights and Lighthouse data across priority pages to surface mobile performance, SEO and Best Practices results, including the biggest technical opportunities.

Is a Lighthouse score the same as real user performance?

No. Lighthouse is a controlled lab test. It is useful for diagnosing technical problems, but real-user experience can vary by device, connection, location and page behaviour.

Why does the tool test more than the homepage?

A fast homepage does not prove the rest of the site is healthy. The audit discovers the site and checks priority pages so templates, service pages and conversion routes are not hidden behind one headline score.
